#ICanmakeIt with Kawaii Philippines

Last October 15, I was lucky enough to be one of the 10 Kawaii girls who attended this collaboration between Canmake and Kawaii Philippines.
As someone who isn't that well-versed with make-up and their application, this workshop definitely persuaded me to try exploring things more. The only tim…

CHRISTMAS IN HALLOWEEN

I'm almost two months late but, HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I remember going to trick-or-treat events when I was younger and I always used just one costume every year - a witch. I don't think I had a say on who I wanted to be then and all that mattered to me was the candies I'll be able to collect. But I do remember dressing-up as Barbie and joining this contest where I had to walk on a runway... I didn't win, though...... moving on. I think I only had did trick-or-treats thrice in my entire life, and that was when I was a kid. Growing up, I never got to experience it again with my friends (as a tween or a teenager.) I was either too lazy or... just lazy, really.

Last October 30th, I was finally able to dress-up on a Halloween afternoon and I celebrated it with my Kawaii Philippines family for their first Halloween party: The Kawaii Halloween Costume Party! And guess what I dressed up as?

TA-DAH! A Christmas ornament!
Now, let me explain. Initially, I was supposed to be a sparkly unicorn with a fabulous and equally sparkly unicorn horn, but things happened and I opted to dress-up as something else instead. Thus, a Christmas ornament - OR Hello Kitty Celebrating Her 50th Anniversary (- Anne Kate Pinero, 2015)

I'd have to admit that I wasn't prepared for the party and I just really wanted to wear this sparkly dress that has been buried inside my closet for the past 2 years. AND Halloween is the best time to wear it because no one's going to question you and your choice of wardrobe.

Beyond the Cutest Dreams: THE KAWAII PH BOOK LAUNCH

Rainbows, clouds, and flowers made of balloons, catchy Japanese music, and people of all ages filled the SM Megamall Events Center last June 17, 2015. What for, you ask? Kawaii Philippines finally launched their first book! With the whole Kawaii PH community working hand-in-hand to create one amazing book, all their hard work has finally paid off with an event that celebrates a milestone for everyone.

The Gathering Season by Reese Lansangan

I know I'm a few weeks late to post this but I definitely can't miss blogging about it. Last October 4, the amazing "kawaii sushi" Reese Lansangan opened her first solo exhibit The Gathering Season at Heima Brixton.

MIBF 2014

Last September 21, I attended the 35th Manila International Book Fair at SMX along with my friend, Cheska.

I was able to snag two books — "After Dark" by Haruki Murakami and "Please Look After Mom" by Kyungsook Shin. A few days before the event, I actually finished reading “Norwegian Wood” which kind of explains why I purchased another one of his books — Post-Haruki Murakami vibes~ As for the latter book, it was an impulse purchase and a quick judgment on its title, plot, and book cover. It was pretty coincidental to have both books form one face.

Kawaii in Manila 2

Last Saturday, I attended the first Kawaii convention in the Philippines and to make-up for my short blog post feature about it, this blog post will contain more things about what really happened during the event!

Kawaii has always been a term I’d always mutter and a word that can pretty much say a lot of things about myself. Kawaii is a lifestyle that I’ve grown with from all the anime I used to watch as soon as I get home from school; from the Japanese dramas I’ve watched; and from the things I’d only see on my computer screen. Kawaii wasn’t only a word for me, not just a lifestyle, but something that pushed me to enthuse about and to influence others to not just perceive it as a word as well.
I’ve had numerous sabaw conversations with Ate Kaila Ocampo — the co-founder of Kawaii Philippines, for years now and we’ve talked about her life in Japan, her blog, and sometimes (if a serious topic was brought up): her plans for the future. I’ve probably said this several times already but having Kawaii in Manila 2 happen right before my eyes felt so surreal. To have someone(very close to my hearts)’s dreams come to reality didn’t only give happiness to the person herself but to myself and to other people who shared the same dream as well.
